SYMPTOMS

When you use Internet Explorer to print a Web page, extra characters or symbols that are not displayed in the browser may be printed. These characters or symbols may also be displayed when you use Print Preview.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because Internet Explorer uses a different method when measuring in the print template which can cause characters to appear in the printed output.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
