SYMPTOMS

When you type in certain programs, such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word, on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer that has Microsoft IntelliPoint software installed, the mouse pointer may disappear while you are typing.

This behavior can occur even if the Hide pointer while typing check box in the IntelliPoint dialog box is not selected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because it is a feature of the IntelliPoint software that hides the pointer while you type. The pointer appears again when you move the pointing device.

MORE INFORMATION

By default, the mouse software in Windows 2000 hides the pointer when you type in certain programs. When you click to select the Hide pointer while typing check box in the IntelliPoint software dialog box, this feature works in more programs.
