This article explains the difference in location of the Microsoft Exchange Server directory (Exchsrvr) in the case of fresh installation versus an upgrade from Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5.

When upgrading from Exchange Server to Exchange 2000 Server, the Exchsrvr directory does not change locations. However, when performing a fresh installation of Exchange 2000, the Exchsrvr directory has a new location, which is the X:\Program Files\Exchsrvr directory.
