The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q256514 SYMPTOMS
As an administrator, you may receive an "access denied" error message when you try to view Gather logs (.gthr) that are created by the full-text indexing process.
If you locate the Exchsrvr\ExchangeServer_(computer name) folder by using Windows Explorer or a command prompt, you also receive an "access denied" error message.
CAUSE
You do not have the correct permissions to access the Exchsrvr\ExchangeServer_(computer name) folder.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:
- Ask the Windows 2000 administrator to grant you Windows 2000 administrator rights
-or- - Ask the Windows 2000 administrator to grant you rights to the Exchsrvr\ExchangeServer_(computer name)\GatherLogs folder.
MORE INFORMATION
Full-text indexing uses MSSearch technology, a system-wide technology. By default, you must be the administrator of a server to view the logs.
Even though you may be a Full Exchange administrator, you may not have the proper Windows 2000 rights to access the files.
