Unsigned Drivers Not Installed During Sysprep Mini-Wizard Without "-pnp" Switch (256204)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
This article was previously published under Q256204 SUMMARY
The Sysprep mini-wizard automatically installs any PCI/PC Card device as long as the following criteria are met:
- The files/drivers are located on the volume in the OemPnPdriverspath path.
- No input is required from the user.
If these requirements are met, the PCI/PC Card Plug and Play device is installed during the Sysprep mini-wizard.
For example, assume that the target computer for the Sysprep image contains a different model of network adapter. The required drivers are included with Windows 2000, so the device is installed during the mini-wizard. However, if the drivers are supplied by the manufacturer and are not digitally signed, the criteria are not met and the installation of the device is postponed until an administrator logs on to the computer.
