The Make Available Offline Command Is Not on the File Menu (256042)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to set up files for offline use, the Make Available Offline command is not on the File menu.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Make Available Offline command appears on the File menu only if your computer is configured to use offline files.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, configure your computer to use offline files. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  3. Click the Offline Files tab.
  4. Click to select the Enable Offline Files check box, click Apply, and then click OK.
To make a file or folder available offline, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. In the folder tree, click the network folder that contains the file you want to make available off line.
  3. In the contents pane, click the file that you want to make available off line.
  4. Click File, and then click Make Available Offline.
