SystemRoot Folder Appears on Desktop after You Upgrade to Internet Explorer 5 for Windows NT 4.0 (255883)

After you upgrade from Internet Explorer 4.x to Internet Explorer 5 or 5.01, Task scheduler does not work. Also, a %systemroot% folder on the Desktop may appear after you try to open the Scheduled Tasks folder in My Computer.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if IBM Visual Age Cobol version 2.2 is installed on your computer. Visual Age Cobol Setup may change the windir variable.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
- Click the Environment tab, and then view the windir value.
- Delete the current value, type %SystemRoot%, click Set, click Apply, and then click OK. Note that you must perform this step even if the windir value already appears as %SystemRoot%.
