OL2000: You Cannot Insert a HTML File As an Attachment (255860)

SYMPTOMS

After you apply the Outlook hotfix Oqfe3773.msp file to a workstation that is running Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) without Active Desktop installed, the following error message is displayed when you try to insert a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) file to a message:
Out of System Resources, please close some applications and try again

RESOLUTION

This problem has been resolved in the Microsoft Outlook 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) that is included in the Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1). To resolve this problem, upgrade to Outlook 2000 SR-1.

WORKAROUND

If you do not upgrade to Outlook 2000 SR-1, use one of the following methods to work around this problem:
  • Upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0.

    -or-

  • Install Active Desktop when you install Internet Explorer 4.0 SP2.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. Upgrading to Outlook 2000 version SR1 will resolve the issue.
