XWEB: Name Resolution Does Not Handle the Bracket "[ ]" Characters Properly (255355)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Exchange 2000 Outlook Web Access (OWA), the automatic name resolution feature may not work as expected for names that have square brackets.

For example, assume that you have a mailbox called User1, with a display name of "User1 [Exchange]"; when a user creates a new message and types User1 [ in the To box, and then clicks the Check Names button, OWA strips off everything to the right of the bracket symbol, including the bracket. Nevertheless, the name appears to resolve properly. However, if a message addressed to this user is actually sent, it sits in the Outbox and is not delivered.
