SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to apply the Numbered list format to a column in a table in Microsoft Publisher 2000, each cell in the column contains the same number or the same letter instead of a numeric or alphabetic sequence.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, manually type the numbers that you want into each cell in the column:
  1. Select the portion of the column that is formatted as a Numbered list.
  2. On the Format menu, click Indents and Lists.
  3. Under Indent settings, click the Normal option, and then click OK.
  4. Place the insertion point in the cell, and then type the number that you want to assign to that cell.
  5. Repeat step 4 for each cell to which you want to assign a number.
  6. On the File menu, click Save.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Publisher 2000.
