SYMPTOMS

When you send an e-mail message from Outlook, the e-mail message may be received as multiple messages. If you send the e-mail message with attachments, the attachments may be unreadable. Additionally, the Subject field in the received messages may include numerical references, such as [1/18], [5/18], and so on.

CAUSE

The Break apart messages larger than (x) KB check box, where "x" is the message size in kilobytes, is selected in the sender's Internet Mail properties, and the receiving client did not reassemble the message properly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must click to clear the Break apart messages larger than (x) KB check box:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. On the Mail tab, click your Internet mail account, and then click Properties.
  3. On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Break apart messages larger than (x) KB check box, and then click OK.
