This article was previously published under Q254880 SYMPTOMS When you run Setup for Microsoft Office, you may receive
the following error message: Error opening installation
log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable.
CAUSE This error message may occur when all of the following
conditions are true:
- You are using Microsoft Windows 2000.
- You run Office Setup by typing a command line, similar to
the following, that includes the /L switch:
f:\setup /L*V c:\verbose.txt - You cancel Setup.
- You rerun Setup by typing the same command line.
WORKAROUND To work around this problem, follow these steps:
- Restart your computer.
- Rerun Office Setup by typing the same command line with the
/L switch.
