This article was previously published under Q254842 SYMPTOMS
When you install Microsoft Office under Microsoft Windows 95 on a computer that has both Windows 95 and Windows 2000 installed, the installation process detects files as being installed when in fact they are not. The result of this is that you see messages like the following message:
Version Conflict
A file being copied is older than the file currently on your computer.
It is recommended that you keep your existing file:
File name: callconf.dll
Description: Call Control Module
Your version: 4.4.3385
However, when you accept the recommendation to keep existing files and subsequently use your system, you receive error messages like the following error message:
Windows Update
An error occurred calling "DllRegisterServer" in
"C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\Connection Wizard\trialoc.dll".
(HRESULT = 80070078)
NOTE: You may receive similar error messages for other files.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you have multiple operating systems installed on the same partition. For example, you may have Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional both installed on drive C.
RESOLUTION
Each operating system must be installed on a separate partition. For example, install Microsoft Windows 95 on drive C and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional on drive D.
