SYMPTOMS

When you start a program, you may receive the following error message:
Scrscan caused an invalid page fault in module Mcscan32.dll

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if McAfee's anti-virus software for Microsoft Windows 95 is installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact McAfee technical support to obtain an update to McAfee for Windows 95. To work around this behavior, uninstall the McAfee anti-virus software using the following steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click McAfee Anti-virus Windows 95, and then click Add/Remove.
  3. Click OK, and then restart the computer.
