Visio2000: Visio 2000 May Stop Responding When You Open a Drawing That You Created with the Organization Chart Solution (254738)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open a drawing that you created based on the Organization Chart solution (Organization Chart.vst), Visio 2000 displays the Organization Chart progress indicator but may then stop responding. After it stops responding, you need to press CTRL+ALT+DEL to close Visio.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you use the Connector tool to draw dynamic connectors between shapes rather than using the built-in connectors.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

You can also download an updated Organization Chart.vsl file and place it in your Visio 2000\Solutions\Organization Chart folder. Click Yes in the message that appears, asking you to replace the existing file with the updated one.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.
