SYMPTOMS

When you use the Internet Diagram solution in Visio 2000 Professional Edition or Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition, you may receive virtual memory messages and Visio may stop responding.

CAUSE

When you create a drawing that contains more than 1000 shapes with the Internet Diagram solution on a computer equipped with 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM or fewer, Visio 2000 requires a Microsoft Windows NT paging file size of at least 125 MB.

RESOLUTION

Increase the paging file size in Windows NT 4.0 to 125 MB or more.

To increase the Windows NT paging file size:
  1. click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the System icon, and then click the Performance tab.
  3. Click Change.

The Virtual Memory dialog box appears.
  4. Type the number 125 or higher in the Initial Size (MB) box, click Set, and then click OK.
