Visio5: "Unable to Find Drwex.dll" Error When You Insert an AutoCAD Drawing (254698)

This article was previously published under Q254698 SYMPTOMS When you try to insert a DWG or DXF file into a Visio
Technical drawing by clicking AutoCAD Drawing on the Insert menu, you may receive the following error message:
Unable to Find Drwex.dll Check Installation.
After you click OK, a Visio application error occurs and Visio shuts down.
CAUSE If Visio Technical 5.0b or later and IntelliCAD 98 by Visio
are installed on the same computer and you uninstall IntelliCAD 98, the
Uninstall program removes the Drwex.dll file from the Visio folder. The DWG
converter that comes with Visio versions 5.0b and later requires this file.
RESOLUTION To restore Drwex.dll, install Service Release C for your
version of Visio 5.0.
