Visio5: Visio 5.0 Setup Program Removes Start Menu Shortcut Icons (254545)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Visio 5.0, the Visio Setup program prompts you to select a program folder in which it will create Visio shortcut icons. By default, the Setup program creates a folder named New Visio Drawing, in which it puts the Visio shortcut icons. If you select a different program folder, Visio Setup removes the shortcuts and subfolders from that folder and adds the Visio shortcuts.

NOTE: This issue affects only the shortcut icons. It does not affect the program files that the icons point to.

RESOLUTION

To avoid this problem, choose to install the Visio program shortcuts in the default location (the New Visio Drawing folder).

If you have already installed Visio, and you want to restore the shortcut icons that the Visio Setup program removed, do one of the following:

  • Reinstall the program(s) that originally created the shortcuts and subfolders.
