SYMPTOMS
After you book an online conference, the wrong resource may be used and displayed in the conference.
CAUSE
This issue can occur because if you perform the following steps, you can "invite" more than one conferencing resource:
- Start Microsoft Outlook.
- Click Calendar.
- On the File menu, point to New, and then click Meeting Request.
- Click To, select two or more conferencing resources, and then click Required to add the resources to the Required box.
- Send the meeting request, and notice that the conference has been booked.
Because you can book multiple resources for a conference when the This is an online meeting using check box has not been selected, the last resource that is processed in the meeting request is used as the host for the conference. Because of this process, the resource that you intended to use for the conference may not be the resource that is used.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use Microsoft Outlook 2000, which provides the Direct Booking feature. To book the correct resource:
- Start Outlook 2000.
- Click Calendar.
- On the File menu, point to New, and then click Meeting Request.
- Click to select the This is an online meeting using check box, and then click Microsoft Exchange Conferencing in the list.
NOTE: If Microsoft Exchange Conferencing is not displayed in the list, you must add a specific registry key before you can continue. Please refer to the "More Information" section of this article for the procedure to add the appropriate registry key. - Click To, select the appropriate conferencing resource, and then click Resources to add the resource to the Resources box.
- Send the meeting request, and notice that the conference has been booked.
