Microsoft UAM Volume Not Visible to Macintosh Clients (253730)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
This article was previously published under Q253730 SYMPTOMS
When you are running the Windows 2000 Multilanguage version, the Microsoft User Authentication Module (UAM) volume is not visible to Macintosh clients after you install Services for Macintosh (SFM).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the administrator who installs SFM is using a Far East user interface (such as Chinese Simplified or Chinese Traditional) in the Windows 2000 Multilanguage version. The UAM volume name that is saved in the server's registry is in Chinese localized text instead of English, making it inaccessible to Macintosh clients.
RESOLUTION- Uninstall Services for Macintosh.
- The administrator should change the current language to U.S. English. In Control Panel, double click Regional Options, and then click English in the Menus and Dialogs box.
- Log off and log on again to initialize the English user interface.
- Reinstall Services for Macintosh while you are logged in as the administrator with a U.S. English user interface.
- Change the administrator's language version back to the appropriate locale.
