Site Server Search SP3 Puts Temp Files in System32 Folder (253529)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Site Server 3.0
- Microsoft Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition
This article was previously published under Q253529 SYMPTOMS
Site Server Search with Service Pack (SP) 3 places temporary files created during a crawl into the System32 folder, and not in the Temp folder that is specified in the Site Server Search Management Console, or in the Temp folder specified by the TEMP environment variable. Also, Search does not clean up the files.
CAUSE
This problem was introduced in SP3. It does not occur with SP2. During a crawl, Search generates temp files. The temp file filename generation code, however, ignores the temp directory settings, and places the files in the wrong folder. During cleanup, Search cleans up the correct Temp folder, thus leaving the files that were placed in the wrong folder.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Site Server version 3.0. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the
