OL2000: User-Defined Formula with Japanese Fields Cause Unexpected Result (253452)

SYMPTOMS

In Outlook Japanese language edition, when you create a user-defined formula field that includes Japanese fields in an Outlook view control, it may cause unexpected results.

You may receive an access violation error, or when you try to edit the formula it disappears.

CAUSE

These problems are caused by an error in miscounting the length of a Japanese field name. An end bracket (]) is written at the wrong position and causes these problems.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
