BUG: Error with HTML Form Element That Have Extended ASCII Characters in Name (253214)

SYMPTOMS

Active Server Pages (ASP) pages running on Windows NT 4.0 do not consistently read data submitted by an HTML form element when the form element name contains characters from the extended ASCII character set.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem:
  1. Upgrade to Windows 2000 and Internet Information Services 5.0.
  2. Don't use extended characters for HTML form element names.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
