OL2000: Outlook May Misdirect Mail When Using Offline Address Book (253179)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q253179

SYMPTOMS

Outlook may misdirect messages that are composed offline and addressed using the Offline Address Book (OAB). This behavior can be confirmed by checking the properties of a recipient in the sender's Outbox folder. The recipient's address may not match the display name of the intended recipient.

CAUSE

The Outlook MAPI Address Book Provider (emsabp32.dll) does not perform an integrity check on startup. If the OAB download is incomplete, due to network problems for example, the index for the OAB may not match some of the data
