  1. On the Start menu, click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

  4. In the right pane, double-click Personal.
  5. Change the value to the appropriate path. For example, C:\My Attachments sets the default to the My Attachments folder. "%USERPROFILE%\My Documents" sets the default to your My Documents folder on a workstation that has more than one user profile. You must have rights to edit the registry for this to work.
  6. On the Registry menu, click Exit, and then restart Outlook.
When you open a new mail message and attach a file, the attachment window opens to the new directory.
