XADM: Domain-Specific Information Not Transferred When You Upgrade Internet Mail Service to Exchange2000 (253108)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q253108 SYMPTOMS
When you upgrade a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on which the Internet Mail Service is installed, the domain-specific information is not transferred. The domain-specific information is located under E-mail Domains on the Connections tab of the Internet Mail Service Properties dialog box.
CAUSE
This information is not transferred during the
upgrade by design. Exchange 2000 uses one smart host and security
specification for each SMTP connector. If this information were to be migrated,
there would be one SMTP connector with the smart host
information, one SMTP connector with outbound security information,
and yet another with the content conversion information.
MORE INFORMATION
All settings that are not migrated are logged in the Exchange 2000 Upgrade Log.
