USB Device Is Not Listed Under USB Controller Bandwidth Usage (253004)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
- Microsoft Windows 98
This article was previously published under Q253004 SYMPTOMS
Some Universal Serial Bus (USB) devices (for example, modems) may not be displayed in the Bandwidth area on the USB controller's Advanced tab in Device Manager.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because modems are considered bulk items and do not report any bandwidth requirements to the operating system. Because the device does not report any bandwidth requirements, it is not listed in the Bandwidth area.
NOTE: The device should still be displayed in the USB hub properties (on the Power tab in Device Manager).
