XFOR: Participant Is Not Prompted for Password When Joining Online Conference (252796)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q252796 SYMPTOMS
Conference participants are not prompted for passwords when joining an online conference that requires a password.
CAUSE
When the conference organizer requires a password for an online conference, the password is added to the URL of the conference. Because of this, the participants are not prompted for a password when they join the conference.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
MORE INFORMATION
If the conference organizer chooses to add or change a password for an existing online conference, he or she is prompted to send an update to all participants. If the organizer chooses to send an update, the password will be updated in the URL for that meeting only after all of the participants read the conference update.
If the conference organizer chooses not to send an update for the password change, the participants will be prompted for a password when they join the conference, because the URL was not updated with the password change.
In addition, if a participant joins an online conference by going to this Web site, http://machinename/conference, all participants will be prompted for a password if the conferences are booked requiring passwords.
