SUMMARY

You can install Microsoft Office Outlook in the following modes:
  • Internet Mail Only (IMO)
  • Corporate or Workgroup (CW)
A different MAPI subsystem is installed for each of these modes. The MAPI subsystem that is installed in the IMO mode is a stub that provides minimal MAPI support for the basic functionality of Outlook.

Outlook must be installed in the CW mode to provide full support for the following technologies:
  • Extended MAPI
  • Simple MAPI
  • Collaboration Data Objects 1.2x (CDO)
  • Exchange Developer's Kit (EDK)
  • MAPI Controls
Programs that use these technologies can run on systems where Microsoft Outlook is installed in the IMO mode, but this mode is not supported.
