WD2000: Word Table Embedded in Another Document Shows White Horizontal Line (252501)

When you open a file, such as a PowerPoint presentation, that contains an embedded Word table with shading, you may see a white horizontal line within the shading at some Zoom values.
NOTE: This problem may also occur with a Word table embedded in an Excel worksheet or another Word document.
CAUSE
An embedded Word table is represented by a Windows metafile (WMF). Word recalculates the metafile when you resize it, based upon your installed printer and display drivers. In some cases, Word miscalculates the metafile, which produces the white line within the table.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To temporarily work around this problem, use a larger value for the paragraph Spacing Before. For example, use 6 pt. spacing before. To do this, follow these steps:
- In the original Word table, select the table cell (row) that shows the white line.
- On the Format menu, click Paragraph.
- On the Indents and Spacing tab, change the Spacing Before box to 6 pt, and then click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
