OL2000: Vcard Does Not Display in Signature Picker List (252344)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q252344

SYMPTOMS

You save a contact as a Vcard. When you create a signature and attempt to select the Vcard in the Signature Picker, the list may not display the Vcard that you just created.

CAUSE

When you save a contact as a vCard, it is saved in either the default location, or a Most Recently Used (MRU) location. The Signature Picker does not look in these locations, so the vCard does not appear on the list.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and on Mail Format tab, click Signature Picker. Click New to create a new signature, click Next, and then click OK to close all dialog boxes.
  2. Open a contact that contains the information you want included in the vCard. On the File menu, click Save As. In the Save as type list, click vCard Files (*.vfc), and save it to the folder for appropriate for your version of Microsoft Windows:

For Windows 95 and Windows 98:
    C:\Windows\Application data\Microsoft\Shared\Signatures

    For Windows NT:
    C:\Winnt\Profiles\Username\Application data\Microsoft\Signatures

  3. On the Tools menu, click Options, on the Mail Format tab, click Signature Picker. Click New to create a new signature and then click Next. The vCard for your contact should appear in the Attach this business card (vCard) to this signature list.
