SMART Capability Available for Released Version of Windows 95 (252215)

When you run a program on your Windows 95-based computer, the program may be unable to query the "Self Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology" (SMART) capabilities of any or your Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) drives when you are using Microsoft-supplied drivers.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if you are running the released version of Windows 95 instead of Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 or later. The component to query SMART capabilities of IDE drives was first included with Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2.
RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
