XL97: Navigation of Links Between Workbooks Does Not Work After Save and Reopen (252197)

SYMPTOMS

When you name a cell and then reference the cell by name in a formula in another workbook, double-clicking the cell reference in the other workbook does not follow the link to the source. This behavior occurs after you save, close, and reopen the workbook.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, insert a formula that refers to a cell reference before you insert the formulas that refer to names.
