XADM: Can't Change Installation Path When Selecting Components During Setup (252078)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Installation Wizard, you may not be able to change the installation path with the Change Folder button on the Component Selection page during Setup.

CAUSE

The option to change the location where to install files is not available after you select any component for installation; the Change Folder button is dimmed.

RESOLUTION

Before selecting any component to install, first click the root Microsoft Exchange 2000 under Component Name, and then change the folder you want to install files under.

WORKAROUND

Click the Next button, and then on the following screen click the Back button to reactivate the Change Folder button.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Most administrators proceed from top down and select components to install, and then try to change the installation path with the Change Folder button but can't, as this is how Setup works.
