XCCC: Authorized Users Are Able to Schedule Video Conferences While the Conferencing Service Is Running (251980)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server, authorized users are able to schedule video conferences even when the video conferencing service is running.

CAUSE

Currently, there is no way to stop authorized users from scheduling a video conference while the service is running.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, if administrators want to temporarily prevent scheduling, they must stop the Conferencing Management Service in order to stop all conference scheduling abilities. Or, they could also revoke the permissions of an individual user. To do either of these, follow the steps provided in the "More Information" section of this article.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

To Stop the Conferencing Management Service

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Administrative Tools.
  2. Click Services, right-click Microsoft Exchange Conference Management, and then, on the Context menu, click Stop.

To Modify Permissions

  1. Click the Users and Computers Snap-in, go to the View menu, and then click Advanced Features. This will make the System container visible.
  2. Navigate to the \Exchange\Conferencing sub-container, and then select the resource for which you want to modify permissions.
  3. Right-click the resource, and then select Properties. Go to the Security tab in order to modify permissions.
