This article was previously published under Q251805

SUMMARY

When you set up the Active Directory Connector (ADC) to replicate accounts between Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server and Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, you may notice that mailboxes without valid Microsoft Windows NT accounts appear as contacts.

MORE INFORMATION

"Contact" is the default setting for mailboxes that do not have valid Windows NT accounts.
If you want to change this so that the account is created as a disabled Windows account rather than contact, you must change it manually:
  1. Start Active Directory Connector.
  2. Right-click your Connection Agreement, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the Advanced tab. On the Advanced tab is a section called, When replication a Mailbox whose Primary Windows Account does not exist in the domain. Click Create a disabled Windows User Account.
