When you view users through the Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory Users and Computers Microsoft Management Console (MMC), users with mailboxes on a Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 computer do not have a value for the Exchange Mailbox Store column.

This behavior is by design. The Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in is searching for a value present in Microsoft Exchange 2000 databases. Therefore, after installation of Exchange 2000, these columns become populated for users with mailboxes on an Exchange 2000 information store.
