XADM: Windows 2000 Security Groups Become Mail-Enabled When They Are Propagated to Exchange Server 5.5 (251715)

If you install Exchange 2000 Active Directory Connector (ADC) on a server and create a two-way Connection Agreement to a Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 computer, the Microsoft Windows 2000 built-in Security Groups become mail-enabled with a set of e-mail addresses and proxy addresses when they are propagated back to Exchange Server 5.5
CAUSE
The Exchange 2000 recipient policy identifies all objects that it should apply the policy to based on an Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) filter. Because the Windows 2000 Security Groups match the criteria that is defined in the recipient policy filter, the Recipient Update Service applies e-mail addresses to these objects.
STATUS
This behavior is by product design. The Recipient Update Service mail-enables anything that matches the recipient policy, including all the Windows 2000 objects that are not mail-enabled.
