XADM: Exchange 2000 Uninstall Procedure Fails Without Cluster Resources (251709)

SYMPTOMS

In a cluster environment, if the following cluster resources are offline while you are attempting to uninstall Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, the uninstall procedure will fail:
  • Cluster name instance
  • Cluster IP address instance
  • Cluster virtual drive

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Exchange 2000 Server Setup, which performs the uninstall procedure, requires these resources for gaining access to the virtual server. This behavior is by design.

RESOLUTION

Make sure that the above-listed cluster resources are online before you begin the Exchange 2000 Server uninstall process.
