Enabling replies to old organization after Move Server Wizard (251315)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
This article was previously published under Q251315 SUMMARY
You may need to move some servers, but not all of the servers, from one organization to a new organization, for example, during a gradual migration to a new organization. The Move Server Wizard can selectively move servers from the original organization to the new organization; however, users in the new organization cannot reply to messages that they received before the Move Server Wizard was run if the senders of the messages remain in the old organization.
If you do not want to wait for users to reply to messages until all of the users are moved to the new organization, you have to create custom recipients on the moved server; you can use the InterOrg Synchronization tool to automate this process. You can use the InterOrg Synchronization tool to automate the creation of Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) custom recipients, and then add X.500 addresses to the e-mail addresses of the custom recipients.
