Audio

Sounds are not played when you connect to a Windows Terminal Server from a remote desktop. This is because Terminal Services makes use of a single transmission channel within the TCP/IP protocols that it uses.

Animated Graphics Interchange Format Files (GIFs) and Video

Animated GIFs and video do not function properly. Currently, the single channel supported by Terminal Services cannot transmit the large amount of information needed by videos and GIF animations.

Slide Transitions

Although most of the slide transitions show some slowing down, the following transitions show the least amount of performance problems:

Cut Through Black
Uncover Down
Uncover Left
Uncover Right

You cannot use the Fade Through Black slide transition at all. It exceeds the capabilities of the Windows Terminal Services to display correctly on individual Terminal Server clients.

Custom Animations

Similar to the slide transitions, custom animations perform reasonably well except for Spiral and Swivel. Because of the complexity of rendering these animations on screen, Microsoft recommends that you avoid using them.

Color Schemes

Currently Windows Terminal Services are limited to 256 colors. If you use graphics and photos that incorporate anything beyond 256 colors, you notice loss of color depth and some pixelation of the graphics.
