Access Denied Error Message in Windows Media Load Simulator (251073)

SYMPTOMS

When using the Microsoft Windows Media Load simulator to simulate a load on a Windows Media Server, you receive the following error message:
SERVER ACCESS DENIED, Code: 0xC00D0013, Description: There was no timely response from the server.

CAUSE

This is a security feature of the load simulator. If the file named wmload.asf is not in the server's asfroot directory, the load simulator does not stress the server.

RESOLUTION

Create an ASF file named wmload.asf and put it in your asfroot directory. You can do this by making a copy of the sample.asf file and renaming it to wmload.asf.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

The Windows Media Load Simulator is designed as a tool to stress a server to aid in capacity planning for CPU, memory, and network hardware for a Windows Media Server. Without the wmload.asf file in the asfroot directory, the load simulator assumes that it is connecting to a server that it should not stress.
