SUMMARY

When you use a WebTV device to view a Web page that you created in PowerPoint, the Web page may not appear as you intended. This article describes how you can optimize your Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) output for a WebTV device.

MORE INFORMATION

The following suggestions may improve the quality of PowerPoint presentations viewed by WebTV devices.
  • By default, when you save a presentation as a Web page, PowerPoint saves the presentation using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later (high fidelity) browser support, which is not the best setting for viewing Web pages on WebTV. Instead, publish your Web presentation by clicking Publish in the Save As Web Page dialog box; then, under Browser support, click either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later or All browsers listed above (creates larger files).
  • You can publish your Web presentation using support for all browsers. By publishing your Web presentation using All browsers listed above (creates larger files) browser support, the Web presentation appears in the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later browser format on WebTV.
  • Your Web presentation might contain animated GIF pictures. GIF pictures aren't animated when you view your Web presentation on WebTV.
  • You might have selected a Screen size setting that is too large for WebTV. The recommended Screen size setting for a WebTV monitor is 544 x 376 pixels. To change the Screen size setting, follow these steps:
    1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
    2. On the General tab of the Options dialog box, click Web Options.
    3. On the Pictures tab of the Web Options dialog box, click 544 x 376 in the Screen size list.
    4. Click OK to save the changes.
