SYMPTOMS

When you set security for one zone in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, go to another zone and change a custom setting, and then click Apply and OK, you may notice that only the custom changes have been set.

WORKAROUND

To work around the behavior, try again to make and save the changes that were not kept.
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab.
  2. Click the zone for which your attempted changes were not saved, and change the security level.
  3. Click Apply, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Internet Explorer 5.

MORE INFORMATION

If you change custom security settings before making other security setting changes, both sets of changes will hold when you save the changes.
