PUB2000: Changes Made to One Business Card Are Automatically Made to the Others (250606)

When you change the information on a single card in a multiple business card publication you create using a Microsoft Publisher 2000 wizard, the information on all of the other business cards may also be changed.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Publisher automatically synchronizes similar elements (called Smart Objects) or repeated design elements (such as a logo, coupon, advertisement, calendar, or Personal Information components) that are associated with a Publisher wizard.
When you change a Smart Object such as Personal Information components, all related elements are changed automatically to prevent you from having to change each element individually.
RESOLUTION
If you want to create a publication containing multiple business cards with different information, use one of the following methods.
Create a New Business Card Publication
Create a new business card publication or template, but do not use the Business Card wizard and do not insert any Personal Information components.
Paste the Existing Information into Standard Text and Picture Frames
If you have already created a business card publication using the Business Card wizard, you can copy the information in the existing text and image frames and then paste it into new text and image frames that you add to the publication.
Standard text and picture frames you create using the icons on the toolbar are not Smart Objects and are not updated automatically.
