The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Site Server 3.0

This article was previously published under Q250590

SYMPTOMS

Performing a search with Microsoft Site Server Search may not return the expected results. The HTML filter supplied by Microsoft may not correctly return e-mail messages containing HTML attachments. The same problem has been noticed with PDF attachments using a third party provided filter.

CAUSE

The component of Site Server Search used to query inside the attachments of e-mail messages is not correctly recognizing the filter needed to perform the search. Since the filter is not loaded to search this content, the messages are not included in the search results.
