When you print Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) content with words in italics that also contain accented characters to a newer Printer Control Language (PCL) printer, a carriage return may be used instead of a backspace to print the accented character.
CAUSE
When Internet Explorer attempts to calculate the character width information needed to pass the PCL printer driver for a given font, it incorrectly calculates the width of the character, which causes the carriage return.
