ACC2000: Error When You Export an Object to a Path and File Name Longer Than 64 Characters (250459)

This article applies only to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb).
SYMPTOMS When you try to export an object from Access 2000, you may
receive the following error message: Cannot update.
Database or object is read-only. You receive this error message no
matter which file format you are exporting to. CAUSE The length of the path (the folder location together with
the file name) that you entered in the Export dialog box exceeds 64 characters. WORKAROUND Export the object so that the length of the path (the
folder location together with the file name) does not exceed 64 characters.
Once you have exported the file successfully, you can move the file to the
folder that you want and rename the file to a name that you want.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, install the latest Microsoft Jet 4.0 service
pack.
