CD-ROM Drive Detected Only When Media Is Present in the Drive (250353)

SYMPTOMS

On IBM computers that use an LG 40X CD-ROM drive, the CD-ROM drive is not detected during startup if there is no CD-ROM in the drive. If you place a CD-ROM in the drive during startup, the CD-ROM drive is detected.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact IBM Technical Support to inquire about obtaining a BIOS update.
