MOD2000: Errors in Issue Tracking Solution When You Use Arrow Keys and TAB Key to Select an Item in the Sort Item By List (250332)

SYMPTOMS

In the Issue Tracking solution that is included with Microsoft Access Workflow Designer, when you press the TAB key to move from the Sort Item by list, you may receive one of the following fatal errors:

In Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details (on Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, press ALT+D), you receive the following message:
IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in MSHTML.DLL at 015f:70cc714a.
NOTE: The actual memory address may vary.

In Microsoft Windows 2000:
IEXPLORE.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.
In Microsoft Windows NT 4.0:
An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

CAUSE

If you first selected an item from the Sort list by using the arrow keys, when you then press the TAB key, you receive one of the errors listed in the "Symptoms" section.

RESOLUTION

Use the mouse pointer to select an item from the list

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. On a computer with the Access Workflow Designer client components installed, ensure that the Issue Tracking solution is deployed, and then browse to it.
  2. On the Issue Tracking main page, click the Views link.
  3. Click the Customize View button, and then in the Customize View dialog box, click the Sort tab on the left.
  4. Use the mouse pointer to open the Sort Items by list.
  5. Use the arrow keys to move down and to select an item in the list. Leave the item selected.
  6. Press the TAB key. Note that you see one of the errors mentioned in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
